One-to-One Mentoring

One-to-One Mentors are caring adult volunteers matched with students of similar backgrounds or interests. Mentors make a minimum one year commitment to develop a relationship with their mentee student. Mentors provide the encouragement and support our students need to make positive educational and life choices.

A One-to-One Mentor is expected to:
Connect with their student once a month in-person
Connect with their student by phone or email once a week
Plan fun and enriching outings that BOTH of you will enjoy
Make a minimum one-year commitment to their student

Chester County Futures supports volunteer mentors by:
Providing comprehensive and interactive training to prepare you for your role as a mentor
Facilitating regular Mentor Roundtables so mentors can learn from others' experiences
Distributing our Mentor Monthly newsletter which features program highlights, a calendar of events, mentor resources, and more
Providing on-going support from our staff Community Partnerships Manager

Are you interested in truly making a difference in a young person's life? This is the perfect opportunity.

Judy, Chester County Futures Mentor and English Teacher
"As a mentor, I got to spend time with fabulous teens who want to make themselves better than they already are. Anytime you do something and share your experiences with someone else, you always get more out of it then they do. It is cliche, but, as the proverb says, 'If you give a man a fish, you feed him once. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.'”

Guillermo, Chester County Futures Graduate and Former Mentee
“If it weren’t for my mentor, I would still be staring at a blank map searching for which route to take.”
