SERVICES TO STUDENTS

Chester County Futures provides mentoring, academic enrichment
and scholarship assistance to students in the Oxford Area,
Kennett Consolidated, Coatesville Area and Phoenixville Area
school districts.
MENTORING
The Board and Staff of Chester County Futures believe strongly
that every student benefits enormously from interaction with
adult role models, also known as mentors. Yet many CCF students
have no one in their lives able to fill the mentor role.
That’s why mentoring is a major thrust of CCF services.
To provide opportunities for student-mentor interaction,
CCF takes a two-pronged approach:
One-to-One Mentors: Approximately 10% of Chester
County Futures students are matched with a one-on-one adult
mentor. The one-to-one mentor plays a major role in the
student’s
life over a multi-year period. A student is matched with
a one-to-one mentor based on two criteria:
- The student has
no significant same-sex role model in the home or extended
family setting.
- The student is facing extraordinary challenges
and requires extra support that a one-to-one mentor relationship
can supply. Find

Classroom-based Mentoring: In addition to one-to-one
mentoring, all Chester County Futures students have a rich
assortment of mentoring opportunities available through a
classroom-based mentoring program called the Mentor Talent
Bank. The Mentor Talent Bank utilizes volunteers from all
walks of life who are willing to share a little of their
time and talent as classroom mentors. Talent Bank Mentors
make a committment to spend an hour or two with CCF students
talking about their work, area of expertise, a special talent,
or an inspiring life event. Find

CHESTER COUNTY FUTURES ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT
The
academic enrichment program includes a total of 42 curriculum
topics covered in bi-weekly school-based meetings with CCF
students. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation
that allows these disadvantaged students to be successful
in high school, college, and life. Ultimately, the topics
covered help to bridge the gap that often exists between
low-income students and their more financially secure peers
within the same high school.
