COATESVILLE, PA – Chester County Futures proudly announces that Oxford students Rommel Sanchez-Perez and Dulce Gabriel-Villagomez have been named award recipients of the Rigg Family Chester County Futures Scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition, room and board for four years at Elizabethtown College, and is offered to eligible students who complete the CCF Passport Program. This milestone underscores ongoing efforts to bridge educational opportunities with financial accessibility. Rommel Sanchez-Perez states, “I'm so grateful to be awarded the Riggs Scholarship and appreciate this assistance from CCF. I'm eager to—and a bit apprehensive about—starting this next phase this fall at Elizabethtown. I'll be majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity, and look forward to learning, expanding my horizons, and most of all, taking full advantage of this experience.”
Each year, qualified high school seniors affiliated with Chester County Futures (CCF) are invited to apply for this incredible opportunity. The partnership between CCF, Elizabethtown College, and benefactors Robert and Karen Rigg exemplifies a collective commitment to student empowerment through education. Dulce Gabriel-Villagomez remarked on her achievement: "It goes without saying that I'm extremely grateful for receiving the Rigg Scholarship. I recognize that having this scholarship is an opportunity that comes very rarely, and because of that I'll try my hardest to be the best I can academically be. I will dedicate myself to make the most of this scholarship. I am also grateful for my family, who have supported my choices, for CCF, whose staff has prepared me for college, and for Mr. and Mrs. Rigg founding this wonderful scholarship.” The initiative aligns perfectly with Chester County Futures' mission of connecting students with mentorships and resources vital for success both academically and in post-secondary life. By eliminating key financial hurdles via such scholarships as presented by the Rigg family collaboration with Elizabethtown College—a broader spectrum of futures becomes attainable within reach of dedicated youth. Robert Rigg elaborated on his family's vision supporting young scholars: “We believe investing time into nurturing bright minds yields dividends far greater than any monetary return—it transforms lives.”
