Chester County Futures Launches Middle School Mentorship Program at Pottstown Middle School for Fall 2026

Chester County Futures (CCF) is excited to announce the launch of its new Middle School Mentorship Program at Pottstown Middle School beginning in Fall 2026. Made possible through funding from the Switchpoint Foundation, the program will connect middle school students with caring adult mentors who will serve as guides, advocates, and role models throughout the academic year, and beyond.

The school-year mentoring program is designed to strengthen students' social-emotional development, future readiness, and educational aspirations through meaningful relationships with trained volunteers. Students will participate in bi-monthly mentor meetings, structured learning activities, and outcome-based developmental experiences focused on social-emotional learning, soft skill development, goal setting, future self-exploration, and building a college-going mindset.

Middle school is a pivotal period in a young person's development. During these formative years, students begin shaping their academic identity, developing social-emotional skills, and forming beliefs about their future educational and career opportunities” Mary Williams Community Engagement Director. “Research consistently demonstrates that mentoring relationships improve academic engagement, strengthen self-confidence, and increase educational attainment.”

The program reflects Chester County Futures' commitment to creating equitable access to educational opportunities and empowering young people to reach their full potential. By introducing mentorship during the middle school years, CCF aims to strengthen resilience, foster belonging, and help students establish a foundation for long-term success.

Funding from the Switchpoint Foundation supports the program's mission of creating lasting impact through mentorship while investing in the future vitality of the Pottstown community. Switchpoint has been a longtime funder of youth mentor programs at VideoRay in Pottstown. Programming that Chester County Futures will continue in the new school year, on-site at the Pottstown Middle School. By helping students develop the skills, confidence, and aspirations needed to succeed, the program contributes to building a stronger future workforce and a brighter future for the region.
